French text Si de present peine j'endure, dire puis par monts et par vaulx, que c'est d'ung plaisir qui peu dure dont j'ay souffert tant de travaulx en endurant maintz griefs et assaulx, mais Dieu fera par aventure, qu'allégé seray de mes maulx.

English translation If I survive my current pain I’ll say in poetry and prose That ‘twas a pleasure without twain To have so suffered in the throes Of enduring near-endless blows. But then, God might by chance ordain Alleviation of my woes. Translation by Thomas Daughton
