Amorosetti augelli
Ch’al sol cantate e in su la verde fronda
Et a l’herb’et a l’onda
Ve ne gite volando allegri e snelli
Piangete del mio cor lo stratio e‘l danno
Ch’i begl’occhi d’amor ferito m’hanno.

German translation

Liebliche Vöglein,
die ihr zur Sonne singt und hinauf zum grünen Laub,
und zum Grün und zu den Gewässern
fröhlich und flink im Fluge eilt,
beklagt die Qual und das Unglück meines Herzens,
das die schönen Augen der Liebe verwundet haben.

English translation

Lovely birds,
that sing to the sun and up to the green leaves,
and to the turf and the waters
run cheerfully and swiftly,
bewail the torment and the harm of my heart,
that has been wounded by the beautiful eyes of love.
